Orb documentation

Learn the language, compose the standard library, and look up every operator and behavior.

Orb programs are state machines with data and screens attached. Start with the introduction if you are new; jump to the reference if you know what you are looking for.

Learn the language

  • Entities: the data an orbital owns, where it lives, who may read it.
  • Traits: states, transitions, guards, effects, emits, listens and ticks.
  • Pages: routes, and how traits share a screen.
  • The closed circuit: the loop the compiler checks.
  • Composition: importing behaviors and overriding them at the call site.
  • UI patterns: what render-ui can draw.
  • The standard library: hundreds of behaviors, ready to bind.
  • Localization: one program in several languages.

Build something

Seven tutorials walk from a single orbital to a multi-orbital app: a complete orbital, a task manager, UI patterns, guards, cross-orbital events, a full app and generating programs with AI.

Look it up

  • Operators: every function a program can call, generated from the compiler's registry.
  • Standard behaviors: every importable behavior and its call-site surface.
  • AVL: the visual language for orbitals and state machines.
  • Validation: what orb validate rejects, and why.
  • CLI: every orb command.
